Frozen

Having crossed the billion dollar mark worldwide, "Frozen" has become one of the most successful Disney motion pictures ever. And rightly so.

This update of the Hans Christian Anderson fairy feels modern, has a beautiful palette, great performances (oh, that Adele Dazeem), terrific characters, amazing songs, and a heartwarming plot. In short, it has all the ingredients of a successful Disney film and they all work perfectly together.

So buying the film is a no-brainer if you loved the film or just love Disney. The special features, though, they are fairly (and surprisingly) slim for a Disney release. So if you base your purchases on all the extras you're going to get, you might have to rethink it. But then again, it's the movie you want to watch over and over, not the special features. But... if you do:

  • The Making of "Frozen": This is actually just a silly musical number featuring Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff singing and dancing through the Disney Animation building about how everyone wants to know how they made the film. It's cute, but weirdly pointless.

  • D'frosted - Disney's Journey from Hans Christian Anderson to "Frozen" - A slim 7 minute featurette that has the directors speaking with a Disney costumer about early incarnations of the tale. Fairly fascinating.

  • Get a Horse - The Oscar nominated Theatrical Short that played in theatres before the film.

  • Deleted Scenes - Four (unfinished) deleted scenes that offer new info and alternate ideas from early versions of the film.

  • Let It Go - Two music videos - one by Demi Lovato and the other by Martina Stoessel.

  • "Frozen" Teaser Trailer - The original teaser trailer that features a scene not in the film.
