Boston Book Festival Special Event: 'You're the Expert'

Organizers of Boston Book Festival announce a special event: a live evening of "You're The Expert," a live show, podcast, and new public radio program on 90.9 WBUR, Boston's NPR station, that uses comedy to make academic research more accessible and exciting.

The event, which benefits Boston Book Festival, takes place Thursday, July 23 at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Main Stage, located at 559 Washington Street in Boston's historic theatre district. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased by calling 617.824.8400 or by visiting www.artsemerson.org. VIP tickets at $150 include priority seating, a post-show cocktail hour with the show's comedians, and BBF membership at the Bibliophile level, which now includes a ticket to the BBF's kickoff keynote in October plus an exclusive "swag bag" just like those given to BBF presenters.

Through games, sketches, and hilariously misguided guesses, "You're The Expert" invites a panel of comedians to try to get to the bottom of what a distinguished scientist studies all day. Hosted and produced by Chris Duffy, the July 23 show will feature expert Ammon Shea, author of "Bad English: A History of Linguistic Aggravation."

The panel of top-notch comic talent will feature Brooklyn-based comedian and producer Jo Firestone and BBF favorite Steve Almond, author most recently of "Against Football: One Fan's Reluctant Manifesto."
