San Diego Trick or Treat!
READ TIME: 4 MIN.
Harvest Howl
The Metro Area Real Estate Professionals for Young Adult Housing (MARYAH) and The San Diego LGBT Community Center invite you to join
them again in 2016, as they look to fight homelessness by scaring up much-
needed funds for the anything-but-scary, lifesaving Youth Housing Project.
The 11th Annual Harvest Howl is back at the Downtown San Diego's Central
Library, 330 Park Boulevard, taking place on Thursday, October 27, from 6
to 9 p.m. Enjoy live entertainment and tasting stations from wonderful, local
restaurants and a hosted bar during this Halloween-themed celebration! As
they say,"It is better to give than to receive..."Though in a vampiric sense,
I'm not sure that applies! Remember too, if you don't offer up a treat to help
those in need, an All Hallows'Eve trick may befall you when you least expect
it! This year's signature event promises to be bigger and better than any
event they've ever hosted and is one that participants wait the year long to
attend. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to maryah.org.
Trilogy of Terror
The Haunted Hotel
Are you tired and looking for a late night hotel room? Careful... Remember
what happened to the lady at the Bates Motel! San Diego's hotel of horror,
located in the Gaslamp at 424 Market Street in downtown, is the longest
running fright fest in San Diego. This hotel from hell reappears every fall,
providing you with plenty of time to fulfill your most frightful dreams. Named
by Haunt World Magazine as one of the top 13 haunted houses in America, the demented inn runs through Monday, October 31, offering the "best fodder for fueling your nightmares" this Halloween. Try to keep your head at the zombie apocalypse, come face to face with your mortality as you plunge to the ground in the Hellevator, wander through Doll Island (the creepiest place you will ever visit) and try to escape the torturous trials of the Twisted Torture Temple!
The Haunted Trail
Located in the world-famous Balboa Park, The Haunted Trail is San Diego's
only totally out-of-doors, haunted attraction. Running through Monday,
October 31, it is guaranteed to be your most dreadful, most frightening and
perhaps your final,"walk in the park." This mile-long stroll in the dark offers
bewitched canyons, twisted pines and gnarled oaks, terror-filled mazes with
horror's favorite icons like Freddy, Jason Michael Myers, The Ring Girl, The Exorcist and Annabelle, just waiting to tear you apart. Scream in fear as you meet the murderous residents of Silent Hill, panic as you squeeze through the crowd of creepy cadavers in the Haunted Ghoul Bus and try to just survive "The eXperiment's" twisted maze! Ever been stalked before? Mwhaaaahhhahahahah!
The Scream Zone
Featuring 24 days of terror, The Scream Zone is back at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for its annual horror-fest through Monday, October 31. The zone's favorite House of Horror has risen back from the dead, embalmed and embellished and returning this year, KarnEvil, is filled with fresh "scarification:" hosed by Dr. Marvel S. Mayhem and his travelling
troupe of bloodthirsty curiosities. Look too for The Haunted Hayride and its
attending zombie joyride just waiting to relieve you of a few body parts, see some flesh-eaters-in-training at Zombie Boot Camp and The Dusk Till Dawn Bar, The Walking Dead Prison, The Exorcist and be warned to keep a sharp eye out for Pennywise the Clown... Or she might just
snatch your eye for her jell-filled snack.

Having sung at locations including the White House and the Super Bowl, the group's official mission is "To create a positive, musical experience through exciting performances that engage audiences, build community support and provide a dynamic force for social change."If you'd like to help them scare up extra support for their efforts, while having a ghostly, good time, join them for their annual hellraising, Halloween fundraiser called DUSK on Saturday, October 29. Nightmare on Normal Street
Normal Street-such an ironic name for an avenue-especially one in the middle of the gayborhood! Pretty much any day in Hillcrest can be spooktacular, even when it's one not filled with Halloween's vampires, werewolves, zombies and the occasional axe-wielding psychopaths... Wait, isn't that your boyfriend with the hatchet? All things being "relative," it's time to get those fright-juices flowing, don that "Abie Normal" costume and join the anything-but-Normal Street revelers on Saturday, October 29, for this celebration of the bizarre. This year's party, a joint venture between The Center and the Hillcrest Business Association, includes a fab grand prize for the "best" costume, with proceeds benefiting the more than 40 community programs at The San Diego LGBT Center. So, pry open that dusty wallet and make some cash "rise from the dead" for our great LGBT Center. For tickets and more information, call 619.692.2077 or go to
