Embattled pop star Kesha is finally back with new music - her first in four years.

After an ongoing court battle involving producer Dr. Luke, whom she claims sexually assaulted her, Kesha returned Thursday with a new single called "Praying." The singer first announced the song on social media Wednesday night.

The opening for the music video for "Praying" features a spoken word part from Kesha, where she says:

Am I dead? Or is this one of those dreams? Those horrible dreams that seem like they last forever? If I am alive, why? If there is a God or whatever, something, somewhere, why have I been abandoned by everyone and everything I've ever known? I've ever loved? Stranded. What is the lesson? What is the point? God, give me a sign, or I have to give up. I can't do this anymore. Please just let me die. Being alive hurts too much.

Kesha explained the meaning of the song and video in a post for Lena Dunham's website Lenny.

At the end of the piece, Kesha announces her new album "Rainbow," saying it will be out August 11. Pitchfork writes "[g]uests featured on the album include Eagles of Death Metal, who appear on a pair of songs, and Dolly Parton, who guests on a cover of her own song 'Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You.'"
