Lockdown Look: Kurt Cobain's '90s Cardigan

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

We've taken at least one step away from sweatpants and stretched-out T-shirts. A well-worn cardigan circa 1993 is taking center stage as the ultimate WFH wardrobe essential according to The Wall Street Journal.

Cobain's sweater sold at auction in 2019 for a meager $334,000, but thrifty shoppers can easily knock off a few zeros and still find a comfortable alternative.

"Mixing mohair with polyamides or acrylic, like Cobain's cardigan, makes it even softer, and the Lycra in the mix means it retains its shape," Emma McClelland, co-director of Knitster LDN, a London atelier specializing in luxury knitwear production, told the Journal. "Those long fibers can be brushed for extra fluffiness. And, crucially, it also holds color really well."
