Bella Thorne Is Set to Make Her Directing Debut About a Gay Man in the Bible Belt

Bella Thorne is set to add director to her resume. According to Deadline, the actor's original screenplay has been picked up and she is about to make her directorial debut on a film called "Color Your Hurt."

As reported by Deadline, the film follows the true story of a young gay man and the challenges he faces growing up in the Bible Belt. The film will be adapted from her screenplay and a short film she made called "Unsettled."

Filming is reportedly set to begin in the Midwest and Italy this spring.

"Gatien will produce 'Color Your Hurt' along with David Lipper ('Bandit') and Robert A. Daly Jr. ('Freud's Last Session') of Latigo Films, Dani Druz, and Mark Emms ('Bad Vegan'), with Adam Sigal ('Nandor Fodor And The Talking Mongoose)' and actor CG Lewis ('Night Teeth') serving as executive producers," Deadline reports.

About "Color Your Hurt," Thorne said it is not just a screenplay.

"It's one of the most inspiring projects I've ever penned," said Thorne. "As I step into my new role as a movie director, it symbolizes the beginning of a truly impactful and exhilarating chapter in my career. I could not be more honored to tell a true story that has moments I deeply connect with."

Producer David Lippard added, "Bella is remarkably talented, and Bob Daly and I want to support her vision in what is a very important story that needs to be told."

In 2019, Thorne directed the adult short film "Her & Him."
