Non-binary "The Flash" star Ezra Miller issued an apology for their recent "alarming" behavior and said they would seek treatment for "complex mental health issues," Variety reported.
"Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment," Miller said in a statement provided to media outlets. "I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior."
"I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life," the 29-year-old film star added.
"The statement comes as Miller's starring role in the upcoming DC Comics-adapted superhero movie 'The Flash' has faced growing scrutiny in light of their alleged off-camera behavior," NBC News detailed.
Reports last week indicated that executives at Warner Bros. were considering cancelling the film, which is now in post-production. That news contradicted earlier reports that said the studio was not contemplating pulling the movie.
Such a decision would not be unprecedented. Warner Bros. announced earlier this month that they were canceling the release of the almost-completed "Batgirl" movie, despite its $90 million cost.
Miller has been accused of various sorts of improper behavior.
Miller has also had multiple encounters with law enforcement, including a couple in Hawaii requesting a restraining order against them after they reportedly burst into the couple's room and made threats. Miller was also put under arrest in Hawaii for alleged assault, as well as for an incident at a bar in Hilo where the actor was reportedly harassing patrons.
Reports of problematic behavior from the actor date back even further. In 2020, a video seemed to show Miller choking a woman in Reykjavík, Iceland. More recently, the woman in that video revealed more details in an interview with Variety, which also reported on a German woman's experience with the actor allegedly growing abusive toward her in her apartment in Berlin.
Miller was also charged with burglary in connection with "several bottles of alcohol" allegedly being taken from a private residence in Vermont.
"According to the Vermont State Police report, on May 1, authorities were called to a burglary complaint from a residence in Stamford," Newsweek detailed.
"After an investigation, including statements from witnesses and CCTV footage, police charged Miller with felony burglary into an unoccupied dwelling."
Miller is expected to be arraigned in court on those charges next month.
